Dr. Alexa Walden French graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a degree in chemistry. She went on to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and the Pierre Fauchard award for outstanding academic achievement.
Immediately after dental school, Dr. French expanded her knowledge and skills during her residency in general dentistry, where she discovered that too many people don’t receive the routine dental care they need because of their fear of the dentist.
Dr. French’s father is also a dentist, so an interest in this line of work is in her genes! But that’s not the only reason she felt called to a career in dentistry. Dr. French has always had a heart for service, so she jumped at the chance to volunteer at a dental clinic while in college. She saw a man who spent years without teeth finally receive dentures, and he was so overcome with emotion and gratitude that Dr. French knew without a doubt she wanted to spend her life helping people build healthy smiles.
Dr. French loves being able to use personalize treatment to help patients overcome their dental fear and reclaim their oral health, as well as educating the community about oral health. To this day, she continues to volunteer, performing dentistry for those in need at various dental clinics and events throughout Kentucky like Dentistry From The Heart in her hometown of Paducah, as well as traveling to local schools during National Children’s Dental Health Month to teach kids about the importance of good dental habits.
She also holds memberships in various professional organizations like:
- Louisville Dental Society
- Christian Medical & Dental Associations
- Young Professionals Association of Louisville
- Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity
When she’s not working at Kirchner Dental of St. Matthews, you’ll likely find Dr. French at Orangetheory Fitness because she loves to work out! She also enjoys reading, traveling, watching college sports, and spending time with her husband, Tom, and their silky terrier, Dallas.
